My Summer Internship in Taichung - Agnes Tong

'In the 2023 summer holiday, I participated in the overseas credit-bearing internship programme organised by the University. I worked as a counsellor at the Taichung YMCA International Summer Camp. I'm grateful for this opportunity because it let me get a closer look into the company cultures of Taiwan NGO organisations.

It seems to me that it is a big challenge as I am the teacher in this summer camp. Throughout my internship, I had the chance to instruct elementary primary students. I took on various roles in the camp, such as the class teacher, the music course and movie club teacher, the magic course and the self-defence course assistant. The workload was heavy, and I had to handle tasks related to the children. The experience has helped me to gain a better understanding of the role of a teacher.

Since this is an international camp, I must work with people from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. I have also learned how important communication and teamwork are to a team. Meanwhile, this is a great opportunity to make more friends and gain a deeper understanding of the world.

This experience has helped me immensely in my future career development and improved my problem-solving skills when facing challenges. It makes me more resilient and adaptable in the face of future challenges.'
