The Industrial Attachment Office (IAO) of Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) welcomed internship partners to the “HKSYU Internship Partners New Year Get-together” at the Mrs Dorothy Koo and Dr Ti Hua Koo Plaza on 20 February 2025 (Thursday).
The afternoon celebrated the strong relationships that HKSYU has built with internship partners of the Department of Counselling and Psychology and the Department of Social Work, which mainly are NGOs, social enterprises, and educational institutions. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to employers at the event.
This gathering served as a platform for HKSYU academics and industry partners to meet and network in a relaxed atmosphere. It also provided students from the two departments with a valuable opportunity to engage in conversations with industry professionals. The event underscored HKSYU’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with industry and nurturing young talents.
Dr Jason Chow, Vice President (University Administration) of HKSYU, extended a warm welcome to all guests and shared his own internship experience during his studies, emphasising its significance for his personal growth. He expressed that this get-together was a way for the University to express gratitude to its internship employers and faculty members.
Twelve students from the Department of Counselling and Psychology, and the Department of Social Work were honoured with the Outstanding Internship Award, which aims at recognising those who have exhibited exemplary performance during their internships.
Attending employers included The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, Hong Kong College of Technology, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, ImpactHK, Methodist Centre, The Salvation Army, TreeholeHK, YMCA of Hong Kong, among others.
Looking ahead, IAO will continue to build closer ties with industry professionals, with the aim of strengthening connections and collaborations among the University, students, and industry while providing more internship opportunities.
